EXPLORE: High School Readiness Program

According to a 2008 study released by ACT  (American College Testing):

• 8th grade academic achievement is the best predictor of college and career readiness by high school graduation
• Fewer than two in ten eighth graders are on target to be ready for college-level work by the time they graduate high school
• 80% of today's 8th graders do not have the knowledge and skills they need to enter high school and succeed there.
• 8th grade is a critical defining point for students in the college and career readiness process - one so important that, if students are not on target for college and career readiness by the time they reach this point, the impact may be nearly irreversible.

The Forgotten Middle: Ensuring tht all students are on target for college and career readiness before high school

How do you know if your child is meeting the benchmarks? The same company that makes the PLAN and ACT tests, has a test for 8th graders called EXPLORE.  After your child takes this test, you will be given a complete profile which will show how your child compares with students nationwide and if he or she meets the high school readiness benchmarks. After a careful analysis of each child's result, High Bluff Academy will design a custom program guaranteed to increase your child's score and meet or exceed the benchmarks.
