Math, computer science, and art teacher, published artist, and the builder of courseware and student systems.
Ethan has taught mathematics, statistics, and computer science since 2013 and joined High Bluff Academy in 2018. They hold a B.S. in Mathematics and Economics from Michigan State University and an M.S. in Economics from UC San Diego. At HBA they have launched courses in symbolic logic, linear algebra, and group theory. They have written curriculum for the College Board, including the AP Precalculus course and the SpringBoard textbooks, and their research has been published in the Journal of Statistics and Management Systems.
As Director of Technology, Curriculum and Instruction, Ethan built the software the school runs on: HBA's student information system, the family and faculty portals, and the courseware platform students work in. They have been writing Theoremata and Contemplanda, the mathematics curriculum and interactive courseware now used in HBA classrooms, since 2013.
Ethan also co-founded Pacific Crest Institute, whose Art Institute curriculum they now teach at HBA. They are a working comic book colorist, credited on Knuckles Omnibus Vol. 1, The Shadow Files, and Scott Shaw's Sonic Days.
Ethan lives in San Diego with their partner and two golden retrievers, Mister Fibonacci and Miss Ada.
