High Bluff Academy is an authorized AP Capstone school and an official College Board testing site (CEEB 053036). Students complete AP coursework and sit for their exams on the same campus where they learn every day. No scrambling for an outside testing seat in May. AP courses are available across our in-person, online, and self-paced programs.

AP exams

Sit your AP exams at HBA.

HBA students take their AP exams on campus, and students from other schools can ask to take theirs here too.

Key dates

  • AP exams are May 3 to May 14, 2027, with late testing May 17 to May 21.
  • HBA students answer by Friday, October 30.
  • Students who do not attend HBA should send a request by Friday, November 13. Requests stay open through Friday, March 12, with College Board's late fee.

Who registers where

  • HBA families answer for each exam on the AP exams card in the parent portal.
  • Students who do not attend HBA send a request. The office reviews each one.

Prices

  • Through Friday, November 13: $149 per exam for full-time HBA students; $300 per exam for anyone who has taken or signs up for an HBA course, or takes a PCI credit course; exam only, $1,300 for the first exam (includes the one-time $1,000 administrative fee), then $300 for each additional exam.
  • From November 14, College Board's $40 late fee is included: $189, $340, and $1,340 for the first exam.

Exam only: a one-time $1,000 administrative fee for each student, plus $300 per exam. Once the student has paid it, it is never charged for the student again. If you cancel every exam by the free-cancellation date on your invoice, we refund it in full. After that date it isn't refundable. If you plan to take an HBA course, sign up for it first and the fee doesn't apply.

Cancel by the free-cancellation date on your invoice (at least 7 days after we send it, and never before Friday, November 6) for a full refund of the exam price. After that date we keep $40 per exam to cover our ordering costs. AP Business with Personal Finance and AP Cybersecurity have no cancellation fee. Missed exams aren't refunded.

Students who do not attend HBA need a current government or school photo ID on exam day. Most AP exams are taken on a laptop or tablet, and the request asks whether the student will bring one.

AP Capstone Diploma

A research credential most high schools can’t offer.

The AP Capstone Diploma is the College Board’s most recognized research distinction, earned alongside a student’s other coursework and explicitly valued by selective universities, including Stanford, the UC system, and NYU.

  1. Step 01

    AP Seminar

    A year of team research, argument, and presentation. Live instructor only.

  2. Step 02

    AP Research

    An independent, year-long academic paper and defense. Live instructor only.

  3. Step 03

    Four more AP exams

    Any four additional AP exams, in subjects the student chooses.

Complete all three and a student earns the full AP Capstone Diploma. AP Seminar and AP Research on their own earn the AP Seminar and Research Certificate.
