English Teacher
English and humanities educator with over a decade of experience in education, a background in history and human rights, and a passion for literature, critical thinking, and student-centered learning
Kira is an educator with a background in English, social studies, and student support. She earned her B.A. in History from Arizona State University and an M.A. in Social Justice and Human Rights, and holds California teaching credentials in Social Studies and English Language Arts. Her experience includes teaching middle and high school students, developing project-based and interdisciplinary curriculum, and incorporating restorative practices and social-emotional learning into the classroom.
Kira believes that the best English classrooms are places where students can be curious, take intellectual risks, and discover that literature rarely has just one “right” interpretation. She especially loves helping students make connections between literature, history, and their own lives. Outside the classroom, Kira is an enthusiastic reader, history nerd, concertgoer, Padres fan, and collector of wonderfully random facts—and she is always happy to talk about a great book.
